Teacher notes
Read Genesis 6:14-16, 22 and Genesis 7:1-9 before the activity. Tell how God instructed Noah and Noah obeyed. Scripture gives a long vessel 300 cubits long, 50 wide, 30 high, with three stories, a side door and an upper opening; it does not give a complete architectural drawing. This long timber-vessel reconstruction avoids a tiny cottage boat, sails and modern ship equipment. The structure, clothing, ramp and exact moment depicted are artistic choices. Genesis 7:2-3 distinguishes clean animals and birds; never teach that every animal on the ark was exactly one pair. Children may point, count aloud and answer orally; a teacher may write the count. Invite a gentle discussion of listening and following a helpful instruction.
Answer
Find: the open door on the long side, beside Noah and the ramp. Count: two sheep are pictured. Tell: Noah did what God commanded; he built the ark (Genesis 6:14, 22). The picture shows two sheep, not the entire number of clean animals on the ark.
