What the child does

Write 1-4 in the circles. Cut and retell in order.

What it teaches

Order four illustrated events from prayer before Pentecost to the people's response to Peter.

Teacher notes

Tell the account before giving out the cards. State that Acts 2:4 says they spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. The small flame-like shapes illustrate the appearance described in Acts 2:3; flames are not a required ongoing evidence of Holy Ghost baptism. The small illustrated group does not assert the number present. The illustration represents immersion in progress; teach that the whole person is immersed. Never pressure a young child to imitate tongues. Explain that baptism is immersion, as represented in the revised illustration. Acts 2:41 does not specify this illustrated water location, clothing or minister. Children write an order number on each card before cutting. The finished circles record the sequence.

Answer

Correct order: believers prayed (Acts 1:14); filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues (2:4); Peter preached (2:14); people who received the word were baptized (2:41). The printed mixed order is 3, 1, 4, 2.
