What it is
Cumulative review that mixes the year together — sorting, patterns, comparing and the arithmetic already met — so a child has to work out which idea a question is asking for rather than being told.
When a child is ready
Use it near the end of a stretch of teaching, once several skills have been taught separately and each one is accurate on its own.
If they struggle
A mixed page failing is usually not a maths problem but a choosing problem. Ask what the question is about before any work starts, and if that is the sticking point, sort the page into groups first and do one group at a time.
