Teaching Number Order and Sequence
What it is
These pages fill in missing numbers in a counting sequence and rewrite a scrambled set of numbers in order, first within 30 and then within 100.
When a child is ready
Ready once the child counts to a hundred and reads two-digit numerals confidently.
If they struggle
Decade crossings cause most errors, 29 to 30 and 79 to 80, so practice only the bridges: count 27 to 33, then 77 to 83. For a scrambled set, have the child find the smallest and cross it off the list, then the smallest of what remains, rather than trying to see the whole order at once.
