Teaching Number Lines
What it is
Fractions and mixed numbers to place on number lines marked in halves, thirds, fourths and sixths, and a line plot to make from leaf lengths measured to the quarter inch.
When a child is ready
Ready once unit fractions are understood and the child measures to the half inch.
If they struggle
Count the spaces between 0 and 1: that count is the denominator. Then count the marks from zero to the arrow for the numerator.
