Teaching Number of the Day

What it is

One three-digit number shown as hundreds, tens and ones, in a number bond, with ten less and ten more, even or odd, in words, and on a number line.

When a child is ready

Ready once the child reads and writes numbers to 999.

If they struggle

Writing the number in words is the usual sticking point. Say it aloud in parts, four hundred, then forty-three, and write each part as it is said.
