Teaching Number Lines

What it is

Number lines in thousandths, hundredths and thirds with missing numbers to write, and a line plot in eighths of an inch with questions that add and subtract the lengths.

When a child is ready

Ready once decimals to thousandths are read and mixed numbers are added.

If they struggle

For the end-to-end question, count the marks above that length and multiply. Adding the same mixed number over and over is the slow way to the same answer.
