Teaching Measurement

What it is

Length in inches and centimeters, clocks to the minute, five- and one-dollar bills with coins and change from ten dollars, and a story problem.

When a child is ready

Ready once the child adds and subtracts money amounts in dollars and cents.

If they struggle

Total the bills first and the coins second, then join the two. Line up the decimal points before finding the change.

This skill in other grades: Kindergarten · Grade 1 · Grade 2 · Grade 3 · Grade 5
