Teaching Count and Circle

What it is

These pages show a small group of pictures and a row of numbers; the child counts the group and circles the number that matches. It joins counting out loud to the written numeral.

When a child is ready

Begin once the child can count a few objects by touching them one at a time and recognizes the numerals offered on the page.

If they struggle

Have the child touch each picture as it is counted and then say the last number again, because that last number is the answer. If the numeral rather than the counting is the problem, set out that many buttons beside each numeral and let the child match them before circling anything.
