Teaching Uppercase & Lowercase Matching

What it is

These pages pair each capital with its small partner — circle the lowercase letter that matches the capital, or draw a line from A across to a. Some pairs are the same shape in two sizes (C and c, S and s) and some look nothing alike (A and a, R and r, G and g).

When a child is ready

Use these once the child can name most capitals and most lowercase letters when the two sets are shown separately.

If they struggle

Split the alphabet in two: pairs that share a shape and pairs that do not. Drill only the unlike pairs — A/a, B/b, D/d, E/e, G/g, Q/q, R/r — as a small card game, and leave the look-alike pairs alone.
