Teaching Uppercase Letters
What it is
Capital letters are built from straight lines and simple curves, which is why they are usually the first letters a child writes by hand. These pages trace one capital at a time inside dotted guides.
When a child is ready
Start when the child can follow a dotted line and a dotted circle without lifting the pencil at every turn.
If they struggle
If strokes run upward or start in odd places, write the letter yourself on the top line and have the child copy underneath instead of tracing over dots. Every capital begins at the top: say "start at the top" each time until the hand does it without the reminder.
