Teaching Temperature and Calendar
What it is
Four thermometers to read against a marked scale, pairs to call warmer or cooler, and one month of a calendar to count and answer about.
When a child is ready
Use it early: reading a scale and reading a calendar are both counting, and neither needs arithmetic beyond the grade.
If they struggle
For the thermometer, put a finger on the nearest number and move up or down one mark at a time. For the calendar, run a finger down the column of the day being counted rather than hunting across the rows.
