Teaching Decimals
What it is
Decimals to thousandths to compare and round, then one of each operation to work out: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals, with a story problem.
When a child is ready
Ready once decimals to hundredths are added and subtracted with the points lined up.
If they struggle
Line up the decimal points for adding and subtracting and fill empty places with zeros. For multiplying, count the decimal places in the question and give the answer the same number.
