Teaching Place Value

What it is

One number, up to the hundreds, shown as hundreds, tens and ones, in a number bond, with ten less and ten more, in words and on a number line.

When a child is ready

Ready once tens and ones are secure and the child is meeting three-digit numbers.

If they struggle

When the number has no hundreds, a zero goes in that box. The build-it sums are the same number split in different ways, so check each one by adding.
