Teaching Silent Letters: wr
What it is
In the wr spelling, the w is silent: write, wrap, wrist, wrong.
When a child is ready
Teach it alongside or just after kn, once the child accepts that some letters are silent.
If they struggle
Pair wr words with their meaning (write, wreck, wrench) and read them as a family. A silent-letter word wall the child adds to over time helps more than repeated correction.
