Teaching Dot to Dot

What it is

A picture that only appears when the numbers are joined in order, then a few counting questions about what was drawn. Counting in order has a visible reward, and a number out of place shows up as a crooked line.

When a child is ready

Use it while the counting order is still being learned, and for a child who needs a page that finishes with something to look at.

If they struggle

Say the numbers out loud while joining them. If a line goes wrong, do not rub out the page - find the number that was skipped and start again from the one before it.
