Teaching Long Division
What it is
Eight long divisions of four-digit numbers by a two-digit number, with remainders, each checked by multiplying back and adding the remainder, and a story problem.
When a child is ready
Ready once long division by one digit is accurate.
If they struggle
Round the divisor to estimate each digit of the answer. If the product is too big to subtract, the digit was one too high.
