Teaching Find the Unknown
What it is
Multiplication and division families with two-digit factors and products in the hundreds, with the blank in any place, and a story problem that asks for a missing factor.
When a child is ready
Ready once division by a two-digit number has been started.
If they struggle
Rewrite each equation as a division with the unknown alone on one side. Estimating first, 30 times what is about 210, narrows it quickly.
