Teaching Spring Addition
What it is
Garden pages freshen grade-level written addition - blossoms, songbirds, and new leaves around the work boxes. It is the same practice as the plain sets in spring dress, with a worked answer key for every sheet at the end. In Kindergarten: single-digit addition with sums to 10 — no regrouping anywhere in the set.
When a child is ready
Ready once the child adds within 10 with counters or fingers.
If they struggle
Start with the larger number and count on. Let the child draw dots in the work box for the smaller number.
