What it is
Two-step stories that mix operations: a multiplication or division with an addition or subtraction, and three-digit numbers that change twice. One equation is written for each step.
When a child is ready
Ready once the times tables are known and three-digit addition and subtraction are accurate.
If they struggle
Underline what happens first in the story. Write that equation and its answer before reading on; the answer starts the second step.
