Teaching Calendar
What it is
Calendar work is reading a month grid: days of the week across the top, a date in each box, and finding yesterday, tomorrow, and a date a week from now. Later sheets ask how many days lie between two dates and which month comes third.
When a child is ready
Begin once the days of the week can be said in order and the child can count on from a number.
If they struggle
Use the current month on a real wall calendar and have the child count boxes with a finger rather than computing. For a week from Tuesday, show that the answer is always straight down one row; the grid does that work, so no adding is needed.
