Teaching Fall Addition

What it is

Grade-level written addition practice framed in autumn art - pumpkins, apples, and falling leaves around numbered work boxes with room to show each step. The math matches the grade's core addition sets, and a worked answer key for every sheet sits at the end of the set. In Grade 4: five-digit addition with regrouping throughout.

When a child is ready

Ready once four-digit addition is accurate.

If they struggle

Line the digits up on squared paper, one digit to a square. Estimate first by rounding both numbers, and compare the answer with the estimate.

This skill in other grades: Kindergarten · Grade 1 · Grade 2 · Grade 3 · Grade 5
