In Grade 3: tally marks to count into totals, a bar graph to draw from them, questions to read off it and three sentences to write. Each page counts tally marks into a frequency table, draws the bar graph and reads it, so bar graphs, tally charts and frequency tables are all practiced here.

Practice pages support a program; they are not the lesson. These sheets reinforce Building Number Sense Grade 3, the sequenced K–5 math series from Faith Thinkers. See every program →

Teaching Data

What it is

Tally marks for five school items to count into totals, a bar graph to draw from them on a scale of two, questions to answer from the graph, and three sentences to write about what it shows.

When a child is ready

Ready once the child counts tallies in fives and can read a scale that goes up by twos.

If they struggle

A bar that should stop at an odd number ends halfway between two lines. Have the child say the numbers on either side before drawing it.

This skill in other grades: Kindergarten · Grade 1 · Grade 2 · Grade 4 · Grade 5
