What it is
A guided lesson on multiplication as equal groups and arrays of up to five rows. Each array is written as repeated addition and as a multiplication sentence both ways round.
When a child is ready
Ready once skip-counting by twos, fives and tens is easy.
If they struggle
Turn the page a quarter turn: the rows become columns and the product does not change. Seeing that once settles why 4 x 5 and 5 x 4 are equal.
