What it is
Shapes such as the rhombus, hexagon and trapezoid to name with sides and corners counted, perimeter and area found by counting squares, and a shape to draw from its number of sides.
When a child is ready
Ready once the basic shapes are known and the child counts sides without skipping.
If they struggle
Perimeter is the walk around the outside and area is the squares inside. Trace the edge in one color and shade the inside in another.
