Bible Verse Copywork Worksheets

One Bible verse a page, for Kindergarten and Grades 1, 3, 4 and 5. In Kindergarten and Grade 1 the page takes a short part of the verse, and the child traces it and then copies it. In Grades 3 to 5 the child counts the verse's capital letters and punctuation marks and copies it whole. Each page then ends the way that week asks: writing the words from memory, filling in the ones left out, putting them back in order, or, from Grade 3, answering in a sentence of their own.

Every verse is quoted word for word from the New King James Version, with its reference. The pages follow the reading curriculum week by week, so each one is marked with the week it was written for and carries that week's character theme.

The first three pages in each grade are free PDFs, open to everyone. The rest of each set, and an answer key for every page, are included with All Access.

How to use a copywork page

Read the verse aloud together first, so the child copies its meaning and not only its marks.
From Grade 3, count the capital letters and the punctuation marks before copying. The answer key gives both counts.
One page is one sitting. A short verse copied carefully is worth more than a long one copied in a hurry.
Come back to the verse later in the week and say it from memory before turning to the next page.
