Living a Holy Life

God saves us and then calls us to live for Him — set apart, clean, and Christlike. Holiness is not how we earn salvation; it is how we love and reflect our holy God.

Be transformed

Present your body to God as a living sacrifice, and be transformed by the renewing of your mind — no longer conformed to this world (Romans 12:1–2).

Walk in the Spirit

Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). The Spirit produces His fruit in us (Galatians 5:22–23).

Set apart

Come out and be separate; cleanse yourself from what defiles, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2 Corinthians 6:17–7:1). Pursue holiness — without it no one will see the Lord.

Work through it

Three passages describing one life

Hebrews 12:14, Romans 12:1, and Galatians 5:16 are the study references. Read Romans 12:1–2 first: it asks for the body as a living sacrifice and for a renewed mind, and the two belong together. Galatians 5 is worth reading from verse 16 to verse 25, so that the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit sit side by side as Paul set them. Hebrews 12:14 is a single line and easy to pass over, so read the paragraph around it. The third section quotes 2 Corinthians 6:17 through 7:1, which is where the word separate comes from; read that in context before deciding what it asks of you.

The step is deliberately small: ask God to show you one thing to surrender this week. The lesson is explicit that holiness is not how salvation is earned but how a saved person loves a holy God, and that the change comes step by step rather than all at once. This is lesson five of six in the New Believer study. It follows receiving the Holy Ghost, because its central claim is that the Spirit is what produces the change, and lesson six on growing in Christ closes the series.
